I have not fished for so long!! Ty for the insiration to go!! I live right next to Folsom Lake and was thinking about throwing live minnows. I heard one guy say to use size 1 octopuss hook, 2 feet leader (flora carbon) braided main line? I value your opinion here, ty Brett PS. Do you ever like a. blowing up live worm on the bottom, b. floating a minnow on clear bobber?ty!

I love live bait fishing and do it most of the time. People that go out with me are the same as for as their reaction to my using live bait. I tell them that they are not fishing but throwing for fish. While they are throwing I am catching. NOT a dull moment for me. You can't use live bait in tournaments because live bait catches more and better fish plus the "bait companies" whom are involved are there to sell their stock of artifices. If you want to "fish" and not just "throw" then take a net, toss some live bait out and catch more and better fish in one day than you can in a week of "throwing". I really enjoyed this video of you "catching" fish.

@@FabianGuzman-ov6qk Well it depends on where I am fishing and the predominate forage for when I am fishing. This morning for bass I had some small shad fry I needed at the boat dock. Also some older thread fin. Was out 3 hours and caught 6 largemouth, the biggest being a 11 pounder in what I know to be 16 foot of water. I never turned on my sonar but just knew there were fish there. The smallest was a couple that were a couple of pounds. I also caught a nice one of 6 pounds on a frog I found. I dd have someone with me and he caught one nice 5 pounder using a creme shad from WalMart. He caught 2 during the same time and I put the sonar off limits. We caught a few white bass also under a bridge once the big bass stopped biting.

Came across your video , first time watching , do you use straight high vis fishing lin when you rig your set up , or do you tie a leader of different fishing line and if so what knot do you use to tie the lines together

I'm like you, I'd rather cast tight lining. To me you catch more. I'm not knocking jigging, but I think that it is good for deep water brush. I'm going to buy some long poles and to do something different. I've done it with my 6 and 7 ft poles a few times. Like the vid.

Popeye jigs are a crappie fishing secret. The key to Popeye jigs is a trailer. The correct presentation is adding a white silkie from clam outdoors, Sheels. You want to use white or black silkie with chartreuse jig. The white silkie is treated with a very light blue permanent marker. Use the silkie with the rubberized ball forward. You just carefully slide it forward. Then place the silkie on the hook carefully through the rubberized ball. You are able to slide the silkie on the hook presentation from 1.4 to a 2 inch bait. The silkie is 100 count thread silk string. It give the Popeye jig an elegant presentation. A must try.
